Alexander White (1738 – 1804). Distinguished Virginia jurist and member of First Congress. Member of the Virginia convention which ratified the Constitution in 1788. Appointed by President John Adams as one of the commissioners to lay out the new Capital at Washington. Regarded by his contemporaries as one of the leaders outstanding leaders of Western Virginia.  ALS. 1 page. 8” x 3 ¾. Woodville, August 30, 1784.
