1876. Stock certificate for 28 shares. Brown/Black. Engraved vignette of a steam locomotive at top center, nice portrait vignette of Frederick Billings at bottom. Issued to and signed on verso by Julius Converse (1798 - 1885). Politician in the state of Vermont in the mid 19th century. Converse served on both the Vermont Senate and House of Representatives prior to becoming the Lieutenant Governor in 1850. During his holding of this position, legislation was passed to construct and operate railroads. Furthermore, he tried to put a public library in every town in the state and he formerly recognized the state militia. Punch cancellation not affect signature. Very Fine.
