William Boeing

William E. Boeing (1881 - 1956). Pioneer aircraft manufacturer. He formed the Boeing Airplane Company in 1916 and Boeing Air Transport in 1927, later merging with several other companies to form United Aircraft and Transport Corporation which dissolved in 1934. The lumber company was in all likelihood held and run by Boeing to provide the necessary wood for the construction of his airplanes.
