State of Connecticut Pay-Table Office order to pay Samuel Squire One hundred pounds lawful money out of the tax of One Shilling ..granted January last bearing the desirable "Magic Date" of July 4. Signed as a committee meber by WOLCOTT, OLIVER Jr. (1760-1833). Secretary of the Treasury under Washington and Adams; Governor of Connecticut. Son of a Signer of the Declaration of Independence, Oliver Jr. served the treasury Department faithfully and superbly under Alexander Hamilton, and was instrumental in developing a plan for the establishment of branches of the Bank of the United States (founded 1791). Couple of folds. Excellent condition
