1887, Montana. Stock Certificate for 392 Shares issued to Frederick Billings but not signed by him. Signed as president by Samuel T. Hauser (1833 1914). Educated as a civil engineer, he found his first employment, in 1854, on The Missouri Pacific Railway, but several years later followed the throng of emigrants to the Northwest, and, in 1862, prospected the upper waters of the Missouri river as far as Fort Benton and the upper waters of the Columbia River. In the Fall, he came East as far as the Bannock mines, and spent some time in mining in that region, and, in 1863, prospected along the route of the Lewis and Clarke expedition as far as the Yellowstone valley. Having accumulated sufficient means, Mr. Hauser opened a bank in Virginia City, Mont., in 1865, in partnership with N.P.Langford, and has since been closely identified with the business interest of that region. In 1866, Mr. Hauser organized The First National Bank of Helena, which city has since been his home. Several Montana branch railroads in Montana were built by him under contract.

Uncancelled and Excellent.
