1890, New York. Stock certificate Issued to “Jas C. Fargo, Executor,” and signed on verso by JAMES C. FARGO (1829 - 1915). Expressman. Working along with his older brother, William, co-founder of the American Express Co., James became a prominent figure in the railroad and express industries. He became president of American Express in 1881 upon his brother's retirement from that position.

The Wagner Palace Car Company came into existence as a result of a reorganization of the New York Central Sleeping Car Company in 1865 which had manufactured Webster Wagnerís widely popular sleeping cars exclusively for the New York Central Railroad. The company manufactured both sleeping cars and drawing-room cars, later incorporating some of the Pullman companies innovations by contract with the company. Punch, stamp and pen cancelled. Very fine
